Marcy Christner

It is with great honor and excitement that I begin another school year as Indian Bend’s Principal. I have been a part of the Indian Bend community for many years, and I am a proud member of our Thunderbird community.  I am looking forward to welcoming our students and families to a new school year!

I bring to Indian Bend more than 20 years of experience in elementary education. I have held the roles of a classroom teacher and Gifted Specialist, teaching multiple grade levels. I have also served as the Assistant Principal of Indian Bend and Boulder Creek Elementary Schools. I earned my BA in Education at the University of Arizona. I continued my education by earning two post-graduate degrees from Northern Arizona University: a Master’s in Education with an emphasis in Human Relations and a Master’s in Educational Leadership.

On a personal note, my husband, Dustin, and I have two boys who grew up going to schools in the Paradise Valley Unified School District and are now in college. We are a family of dog lovers! Our pack is four strong at this time, and we typically have at least one foster dog joining our family as they wait for their forever home. Our family loves to travel, cook, and spend time in the White Mountains.

Whether this is your first year or you are a longtime Thunderbird, Indian Bend is a wonderful place to learn and grow during these elementary years! Along with the teachers and staff, I am committed to working hard to continue the legacy of success at Indian Bend. We have a powerful Thunderbird community, and I will continue to develop strong relationships with our parents, students, and community partners. Academic success has always been our focus here at Indian Bend. We will ensure continued academic growth by using data to inform instruction, provide consistent implementation of the district curriculum, and differentiate instruction to meet all students’ needs.

As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors is excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, safe, and nurturing environment.
